Searching

I looked into Advance Searching, I had never tried it before.  I liked that I can type a several words or an exact word or phrase and I can even decide the language that I want and it.  I find out that I can also decide on what region of the world I want the such done.  I can also decide the reading level I want the articles to be and the file type I want and click the advanced search button sand it takes directly to Google.  I  believe this is very helpful, and  will help me to find things a lot faster.

I also looked into the Advanced Image Search an just like Advance Searching one can type words or an exact word or phrase to search for am image. I can actually looked for a specific image size, the type of image, the color and the file type and it will automatically will send me to Google and give me all the image options there are on the specific search I did.  I really liked that I can find things in a much easier way and without going through may hassles.

Google Custom Search is a Google search box that delivers fast and relevant search results and lets the visitor to quickly  and concise.  A person can look at one  web site or search for one specific topic at multiple websites.  I can just add a search box to my home page to help me to find what I need on the website. I liked this tool because it makes searches much easier and quicker than the other ones.  I really enjoyed learning more about how to make my searching a lot easier and faster.

iPadApps

The first iPadApps that I looked into was in Languages, I used myLanguage.  Basically what it does is to translate from one language to another.  I typed a sentence in English and translated to Spanish and I really liked the translation.  I can also type a text and it translates the whole text.  I have seen other programs and the translations are not very good.  I believe that it may be of good use in the classroom, they can use it as a dictionary, they can just type a word in English and click translate and it gives the translation in spanish.

The second iPadApps that I checked was Art.  I looked into Collections, they have a variety of Art Collections.  They have arts of Africa, American Art, Asian Art, Contemporary art, arts of the American and many more collections.  I really liked this since I have always liked art.  I can used in the classroom to assign students to research on Arts of the Americas.  I thinks this is a very useful tool for students to work on research for different classes not only for Spanish.

The third iPadApps I liked I found it on GenReference and it is Google Earth.  I just think it is very to use in the classroom.  Again, students can go into Google Earh and locate places and see them as if they where in the that very spot.  I just like that all this Apps can be use on the classroom and be of help to the teacher and the students to enhance the teaching and the students learning.

The lesson plan Puppet Pals the students will work on a team to create an educational play using the Puppet Pals App on their iPads.  the students will have to create a  Creative Production, they will have to write a script and include a list of the sources they used to research for their subject.  the students will also have to include information that can teach someone about the subject being research.  They are suppose to use appropriate language and they have to record their script.  The students will have to create character movement where one person records and another person moves the characters and when they are done with the production they have to show it to the teacher to receive credit.  All students need to participate on the entire production in order to receive credit.  I liked the use of Puppet Pals app and I think that the lesson plan was well developed and the students enjoyed using the App o their work.
Google Drawing

Today I looked at Google Drawing which is part of the Google Docs, I looked at the tutorial and I learned that this was created for business like diagrams and charts.  It is very easy to use, one can just select a chart from the tool bar and  click on it and select the shape desired and can also duplicate the shape by just set the cursor over the shape and drag and click and drag and duplicate as many times needed.  I can also highlight all around the shapes and then go ahead and format them to distribute horizontal or vertically.  They can also be aligned horizontally  and move them to the center or to the right or left or also can be aligned vertically and set then to the top, middle or bottom.  I double click on the shape and a small window appears and one can  write a text and one can do this in all the shapes.  I liked that I can share this document and get feedback from other people.  I can also change the color s of the shapes.  After one finished the person can go to file and download it as the format one chooses and gets downloaded to the computer.  We can also go to google document and go to insert menu and choose drawing and we can also create drawing and added to our Google Docs.  What I liked about drawings is that I can create drawings with different colors, shapes, lines, curbs and different dimensions.   I also liked that I can draw different characters,  I believe that I am going to definitely used  google Drawing in the future.

Delicious
Bookmarks are new for me, I had never used them before.  I am still feeling a little out of place.  I believe they will be of a great asset when I really learn how to use them.  I like that it saves sites of interest and one can share them with friends and family and can be access from anywhere in the world.

Google Reader
the Google reader constantly checks  for ones favorite sites and blogs for new content.  This is very nice because I can be informed of the new sites or blogs that are available for a certain topic of interest. Another interesting feature is that Goggle Reader shows all of the favorite sites in one place.   I can   have access to it from my gmail account, it is like a personalized inbox.   Reader also keeps track of which items a person has read, I find this very convenient.  I think I will start using Google Reader and believe is going to be of great help to me.  I can use it in my future when I will need to look for books related to my teaching and also to help students search for books that they might need to use in class.

Library Thing

Library Thing is the world's largest book club.   This is a cataloging and social networking site for people that love to read book.  It helps create a library-quality catalog of books.  this is done online so other people can also catalog together.  A person can contribute tags, ratings and reviews for a book.  the members can also participate in a member forum and everyone can benefit from everyone else's work.  It is easy to add books to your catalog.  I really like this idea of cataloging  books online and share with other people and other people can access my catalog also.  I believe that Library thing will be of great help for me in the future, it will help me look for books that I will need and i can access other peoples online catalogs to see what they have in the specific books that I will be searching for.
Forms
I enjoyed creating a Google Form, I believe it is a great tool for teachers.  It just will make grading so much easier and in less time, this is important since teachers tend to spend a big amount of time grading papers.  another advantage that I can see is that actually papers are not needed for students to take a quiz or to have an activity to collect information.  I created a Spanish quiz  and email it to Patrick Tiller for him to take the quiz.  He also created a quiz for me to take and then we submitted the quizzes.  Another feature I really liked is that  as soon as the form is submitted it automatically goes into a spreadsheet.

In the lesson plans Graphing with Google Docs and Forms the teacher will create a Google Form to collect information from the class.  she creates a google Docs and Forms in order to know her class.  the information has been collected onto a Google spreadsheet the teacher will be able to view a summary of the data for the students to analyze and draw conclusions.  The students need to answer the questions the teacher created as well as to form statements that are true about the data.  the teacher asks the students to brainstorm questions that students could ask to gather data about their class.  Open ended and multiple choice questions will work for this type of of activity but not narrative questions.

Gmail, Google Calendar, IGoogle

Gmail
Even though I have had a gmail account for several years I had never looked into all the features that it offers.  I find out that I can actually upload photos and have them there.  Circles is another feature that I looked into and I can create a circle of friends or of family members if I want to have a circle.  There is another feature called Stream and one can actually see what people post and comments made by other persons.

Calendar

I really liked the use of the calendar, a person can share schedule with other people.  The calendar can be viewed on the go on the phone, it  also gives reminders to stay in schedule.  another feature that I liked of the calendar is that one can sign with desktop applications and access calendar however and whenever you want.   I can access other calendars, like my friends's calendar if needed.  It keeps an agenda for met and shows events of the day, week, month or 4 days.  I can work offline if I need to and is the best part is that all this is free.  I believe I am going to star using this asset, which will be of great help.

IGoogle

In IGoogle I can access my gmail if I need to.  It has many gadgets like weather reports, date and the.  I can also access the News top stories.  It also Today's spotlight videos on You Tube,  even though I do not access You Tube very often I believe is a good asset to have it.  I really liked that the theme can be change to a different one.  A person can also translate, have Facebook for IGoogle and what I like the most is that one can add Doppler radar and severe weather alerts.
spreadsheets

Google Docs Spreadsheet are pretty much like Microsoft Excel.  I have used Microsoft Excel before but I am not an expert on the use of it.  It seems that Google Docs Spreadsheet has less functions listed but it still does the same functions as Microsoft Excel.  I really like that Google Docs Spreadsheet all files and folders are stored online and the students and the teacher can create, share the material and at the same time collaborate by giving others editing privileges.  Another important feature is that anyone can have access to the documents wherever they are at.

In the lesson plan Collaborative Lab Experiments, the students will collect data and will recorded on a common Doc/ spreadsheet.  By collecting the data on a spreadsheet the students will be able to compare, contrast, analyze and synthesize their information. they will also determine scientific conclusions about the multiple observations and their results.  Team members will be able to record and graph their data on a share Google Doc/spreadsheet and then will be able to use the "share" drop-down menu and invite fellow students. They can also share the document with the other lab partners by adding their email address to the invite "box" and checking to "edit".  the students can also invite their teacher to be their editor.
In the lesson plan Consumer Product Testing Experiment, the teacher gives the students a project to work on in which they need to work on a consumer product testing and they need to use Google Spreadsheet to turn data into information.  the students will have to work with partners usingGoogle Docs to create an online survey that collect data they need to complete consumer products research.  they will create a form to collect all hyperlinks of surveys available into a single spreadsheet.  this spreadsheet can be used later to make the surveys available to everyone in the class.  This can also be used by the teacher to review and critique each others surveys before they used with the real audience.
I really liked that any of the students that want to access the spreadsheet from home, they can use the "chat feature" to discuss their conclusions.  the teacher can also create a Google form for students to input data and then sharing the spreadsheet withe the class for analysis.
I believe that using spreadsheets in my classroom will be a great asset.  I can use it to keep track of grades, a list of assignments, etc.  I can used to assign students to work on surveys, research, statistics.  Different students can share their input and work in collaboration with their peers and even I has a teacher can be check that they are using all the right sources available for them.

Presentations

I have used Power Point for many years, actually I make a Power Point presentation every week to use at Church.  I had never used Google Presentation before so it is new for me. what I liked the most  is that it is Cloud based so one can have access to the presentation anywhere.  another thing that I liked is that they are simple to create.  One can add text, videos, images, animations, and transitions.  they are easy to create, share and edit.  I can embed the presentation in a blog.

In the lesson plan Learning New Vocabulary the Collaborative Way, the students reported researching their findings on a specific subject area and they used Google Presentations to report their findings.  The students got a good use of the program by creating a collaborative project and the whole class can review the new vocabulary words.  On this lesson plan the students will find images on the internet that will match the vocabulary words.  the teacher can create a Google Presentation and the students can access to the presentation.  Students can work on their presentation in pairs.  they can use all the different assets of Google Presentation like posting images on the slides, and they can also adjust the get style and the color.

This presentation can also exist as an online document which will give acres to students and always refer back for review anywhere they are at.
Browsers

The first browser I looked was Camino, I didn't see much difference with any of the browsers I had used before.  I liked that I could find the search browser  and how I can go into Google right away and search for whatever I need to search.  aIt also has a folder with Camino information and a folder with news which I think are set differently from the other browsers.

I also took a look at Opera, which says it is speed dial.  What I liked about Opera is that it has t a search  bar for google and a different search bar for bing.  I saw not much difference from the other browsers I have used before like Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.  I think I would not have problems if I had to use this specific browser.

I also took a look at Sea Monkey and I think is the one browser I liked the least.    It is confusing to open another tab.  It is just confusing to find the different tabs.  The only thing that I liked is that you can do a Google search in the address bar.

Keyboarding

Keyboarding

I looked into three different game programs: Word Mountain a very fun game where I had to spell so many words before the pointer got to the top of the mountain.  I confess that I only tried the easy part and I still got tangled up typing the words and I did not do very good on it.  Fast Typer 2, is a typing training this one was easy but the tome went by very fast, I enjoyed playing it.  War of Words, I really enjoyed this game where I was able to aim at words, I was doing very good until more and more words and letters starting to fall at once and that is when I lost control and the game was over.  This one was may favorite of the three, even though I believe that the three games very good and challenging.  I believe that this type of keyboarding programs are very good for students to learn how to type.  This games are creative,  opposed of the typing methods that were used in the past.
Google Docs

It is interesting to find a few similarities with other with the word processor that I have used in the past. I find out that Google Docs is very similar to Word.  I can see there are many advantages on the use of Google Docs over the use of Word.  I think that  a big strength of Google Docs is that  I can create a document and another person on the other side of the world can add insights to the same document that I just created and how we can both type our own thoughts at the same time.

The lesson plans were very helpful.  The lesson plans that we view the teachers used Google docs to create the lesson plans.  the teacher creates a Google Doc and shares the document with all the class.  This document contains a list of the issues generated from the class discussion they had in the previous class.  I believe that the students can use Google docs and submitted to the teacher and the teacher can make any comments. This is a good tool for students to get feedback from the teacher and they won't have any trouble understanding the teacher's comments.

The first computer that I used was an IBM and it was close to 27 years ago, since then computers have change quite a bit. It is very interesting to learn more about the differences between apple computers and the IBM computers.  It is also important to learn more about the creation of the ipod and how it came to brought a larger market for computers.

I learned in a tutorial how to use navigate the Mac, using the textures with the mouse, edit images and preview. I learned how to up grade the computer.  check the information of the computer and find out the version I have, check the processor and memory, and more information to see applications and sort the applications by kind to see the apps installed in this computer.
the tutorial for stacks is very informative and helps to use, stacks are folders and the tutorial helps to open a certain stack and view its contents and click on a stack to close the application.
